Dr. Malakuti is a well-respected and accomplished clinical psychologist, who has been licensed by the California Board of Psychology. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Applied Developmental Psychology from the reputable University of California, Los Angeles, where she later assisted in a research lab on the impact of stress in the development of schizophrenia. Dr. Malakuti went on to obtain her 1st Master’s degree (M.A.) in Psychology at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology, where she was simultaneously working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities.

She then received her second Master’s degree (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. She further pursued her education there to obtain her Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.), where she graduated with high honors. During the course of her graduate work, she provided a vast array of psychotherapy services to a diverse group of people including individuals, families, and couples in community clinics, schools, hospitals, prisons, board and cares and private offices.

In addition, Dr. Malakuti completed an APA-accredited internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute of Multicultural Counseling and Education Services (IMCES), where she served as program manager of the Full Service Partnership Program (FSP). She has also led grief and bereavement groups and has extensive experience in psychological and neuropsychological testing. Currently, she does both psychotherapy and neuropsychological testing for patients with traumatic brain injuries. Multilingual in five languages, English, Farsi, German, French and Hebrew, Dr. Malakuti has a passion for cultural diversity and immigration issues. She completed her doctoral dissertation on, “Depression and Anxiety in Jewish Iranian Immigrants and Implications for Treatment” and she has spoken at the United Nations on issues related to cultural stigma.
